Bloemfontein - Bafana Bafana winger Delron Buckley has signed for newly promoted Bundasliga club Arminia Bielefeld.
Buckley, who is set to play a key role for Bafana in Saturday's 2006 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde here at Vodacom Park, said he was excited about the turn of events at club and international level.
"I have played for Bochum in Germany for 10 years. I felt I needed a change and a new challenge. Bielefeld offered me that opportunity and I grabbed it. Bielefeld wanted an experienced player after they won promotion and I fitted the bill. I am very excited," said Buckley.
The Bafana veteran, who has 48 caps under his belt, is still only 26, but has played in two World Cup finals and two African Nations Cup finals.
He is quietly confident that Bafana will beat Cape Verde.
"The new coach Stuart Baxter has worked wonders in a short time. The old team spirit is back and I am enjoying training as are the other lads. I know little about our opponents but things are looking good.
"I am sure we will do Bloemfontein and South Africa proud," he said.
"I know that we will be able to put the bad memories of Tunisia during the African Nations Cup finals behind us once and for all."
